Terms of Service

Last updated: August 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Frame ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you are using Frame on behalf of a school or educational institution, you represent that you have the authority to bind that institution to these terms.

If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Frame is a film course management platform that enables teachers to create and deliver film curriculum, and enables students to access lessons, submit work, write journal entries, and receive feedback.

Frame is intended for use in educational settings only. Access is restricted to individuals who have been explicitly added to the platform by a teacher or school administrator.

3. Account Access

Frame uses Google Sign-In for authentication. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account. Frame does not store passwords.

Access to Frame is granted only to individuals whose email addresses have been added to the platform by a teacher. Frame is not a public service — unauthorized access is prohibited.

Teachers are responsible for ensuring that only authorized students are added to their courses.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Frame only for lawful educational purposes. You must not:

Submit content that is abusive, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable. Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data. Use the Service to distribute spam, malware, or other harmful content. Reverse engineer, copy, or create derivative works of the Frame platform. Share your account credentials with others.

Frame reserves the right to suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms.

5. Student Content

Students retain ownership of the content they create in Frame — journal entries, submitted work, and activity responses. By submitting content to Frame, students grant Frame a limited license to store and display that content solely for the purpose of providing the educational service.

Teachers may view and comment on student content as part of their educational role. Student content is not shared with other students or third parties.

6. School Responsibilities

Schools and teachers using Frame are responsible for:

Obtaining all necessary consents from students and parents or guardians before enrolling students in Frame, ensuring that student use of Frame complies with applicable laws and school policies, and maintaining accurate and up-to-date student rosters.

Schools are the data controllers for student education records stored in Frame. Frame acts as a data processor on behalf of the school.

7. Intellectual Property

The Frame platform, including its design, code, and curriculum tools, is the intellectual property of Frame Education. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of the Frame platform to you.

Lesson content created by teachers using Frame remains the intellectual property of the teacher or their institution, as determined by their employment agreement.

8. Service Availability

We strive to provide reliable access to Frame, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The platform may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.

We will make reasonable efforts to notify schools in advance of scheduled maintenance that may affect service availability.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Frame Education shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of educational opportunities, or service interruptions.

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from these terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

Either party may terminate the use of Frame at any time. Upon termination, the school may request a copy of all student data, which will be provided within 30 days. Student data will be permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days of a written deletion request.

Sections 5, 7, 9, and 11 of these terms survive termination.

11. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation between the parties before pursuing formal legal remedies.

For schools in the United States, these terms are governed by the laws of the state in which the school is located. For international schools, these terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Frame Education is registered.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify schools of material changes by email or through a notice in the Frame platform at least 30 days before the changes take effect.

Continued use of Frame after the effective date of updated terms constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
